This past weekend, the North America’s Building Trades Unions (NABTU) hosted its 16th annual Tradeswomen Build Nations Conference, the world’s largest annual gathering of tradeswomen. More than 6,000 tradeswomen, union leaders and industry professionals gathered at the George R. Brown Convention Center in Houston, Texas, to promote women’s recruitment and retention in construction trades.
Local 2 Insulators has long advocated for diversity and inclusion within our organization and across the industry. This year, Business Agent Brad Schafer joined five proud Local 2 sisters in Houston to represent our union and support the continued growth of women in the trades.
Throughout the conference, our sisters participated in workshops, mentorship sessions, a massive banner parade and other events celebrating the accomplishments and potential of tradeswomen nationwide.
Events like Tradeswomen Build Nations represent more than a gathering of industry professionals. They are a symbol of progress and a promising future for women aspiring to begin careers in construction.
Our organization is proud to support these efforts and the continued advancement of our industry. A special thank-you to Loissa Yochum, Rachel Mackey, Kayla Varney, Kristin Posey and Jess Newton for representing our organization with pride in Houston!
