The Joint Apprenticeship Committee of the Heat and Frost Insulators and Asbestos Workers Local #2 is now accepting applications for its 2026 apprenticeship selection process. Applications are available at the AWL #2 Apprentice Training Center in Aliquippa on Wednesdays and Thursdays from noon to 4:30 p.m., or by appointment.
Applicants must meet eligibility requirements, including being at least eighteen years old, having a high school diploma or GED, dependable transportation, and residency within Local #2’s geographic jurisdiction.

WHAT IS A MECHANICAL SYSTEM INSULATOR?
A mechanical system insulator installs, removes, and repairs insulation on commercial and industrial mechanical systems, such as pipes, ducts, and tanks, to control temperature, prevent condensation, and reduce noise. Their duties include reading blueprints, measuring and cutting insulation materials, applying adhesives and sealants, and covering the insulation with materials like sheet metal or vapor barriers to finish the job.

Day One Earnings:
Hourly wage (Industrial Rate): $24.10
Total Benefits ( HealthCare, Annuity): $18.29
Total Hourly Compensation: $ 43.75
After 4 years of Apprenticeship:
Hourly wage: $48.20
Total Benefits ( HealthCare, Pension, Annuity): $30.31
Total Hourly Compensation: $ 78.51
