University of Pittsburgh student Olivia Seiler is making a big impact in a unique way—through the power of pickleball. On May 31, from noon to 4 p.m., Olivia is organizing a one-of-a-kind tournament at Velum Fermentation to raise money for the Mesothelioma Applied Research Foundation, a cause close to her heart.
As the daughter of Ed Seiler, Training Director of Heat and Frost Insulators Local 2, Olivia has seen firsthand the toll mesothelioma takes on workers and their families. Inspired by the union’s ongoing commitment to supporting victims of the disease, she took it upon herself to create a community-centered event that blends fun and philanthropy.
For just $25, players can enter the tournament with a chosen partner, guaranteeing two games and receiving two raffle tickets. Not into playing? A $15 spectator and arcade-only pass allows guests to enjoy the venue, the atmosphere, and support the cause. With craft brews, great people, and competitive spirit, it’s sure to be a memorable afternoon for a meaningful mission.
This event is more than just a game—it’s a tribute to solidarity, awareness, and young leadership in action. Olivia’s dedication and initiative reflect the best of what community support can achieve. Join her in honoring those affected by mesothelioma and making a difference—one serve at a time.
