Office of an Insulator

Earlier this year, Local 2 officially launched the “Office of an Insulator” campaign across our social media accounts on InstagramFacebook and (formerly Twitter). By sharing user-submitted photos showcasing unique “offices,” we are highlighting the many spaces where the work of an insulator can be found.

For an insulator, an office is not behind a desk, but rather in almost any building imaginable, including hospitals, airports, schools, factories, data centers, and everywhere in between. So, we are encouraging our highly skilled insulators to submit their photos to Local 2, to show off their contributions in the field.

“The average person doesn’t realize how essential the work of a mechanical insulator is,” said JJ Seiler, Local 2 Director of Business Development. “Some still think that what we do is put the pink fuzzy stuff in your attic.”

The “Office of an Insulator” campaign is designed to engage audiences by spotlighting the different work our men and women do on the job, giving them the recognition they deserve.

“The work that we do allows mechanical and piping systems to run more efficiently,” Seiler said. “The insulation that we install saves money, conserves energy and enhances safety.”

Even our retirees have gotten involved on Facebook, reminiscing about the old days, and posting photos of their retiree “office,” the golf course.

“Okay, I’m getting jealous now. I guess I gotta end this retirement and come back to work,” retiree, Rudolph Bishop, even joked in one of the comments.

From the training floor of the Local 2 apprenticeship program to the high-profile Pittsburgh International Airport transformation project, we’ve already received over 35 submissions from insulators showing off their different “offices.”

Get in on the fun by commenting on one of our weekly posts or privately messaging us a photo/video of a union job that you are proud of, a.k.a. one of your “offices” of an insulator.
