Local 2 had another successful Labor Day weekend, showing off our union pride in four parades across the region. Union members marched in Altoona on Saturday and in Pittsburgh, Erie, and Paden City, WV, on Monday.
This year’s parades featured two new Labor Day-themed shirts, with one honoring former member Bill Yund.
“Unions built this nation while protecting the worker,” said Local 2 Business Manager John Stewart. “Local 2 will be celebrating in memory of our late Brother, Bill Yund. The Insulators march in these parades to celebrate our country’s working class, honor past union members and their strides in the labor movement, and show that we will continue fighting for working-class rights.
“I love each and every last one of us here,” said Local 2 President Jerome Smith Jr. “I know so many people who have been going to this for about 25+ years. We know that we are a family, and it means better for all of us that we are able to do what we do under the protection of the unions.”
